Two Attacks — Two Violations
Dear Companions,
I had no more than posted my thanks and praise to Rabbi/President Debra for her warm affirmation of conscience among rabbinical students when someone murdered two visitors to the Capitol Jewish Museum. At the same time, the U.S. President escalated his campaign to kill Harvard University. The brightest gem among many in U.S. higher education. The two actions are not opposite but close to identical: brutal and violent attacks on reason, learning, compassion, and justice. Both acts were antisemitic. Both were anti-Palestinian. Both violated Torah. Both violated Islam. Both were calculated to bring greater fear, hatred, and moral chaos into the world.
What to do? Increase the flow of small and large contributions to Harvard. Increase the flow of contributions to bring Palestinians to come as nonviolent heirs of Hajjar/Hagar and Ismil/Yishmael. Become what both Jewish and Muslim tradition honor: The Well of the Living One Who Sees Me.
With joy and blessing to you all and the Breath-of-Life,
Arthur
