On the one year anniversary of Arthur’s passing, we will gather to honor his memory and mark this transitional moment.
Rabbis Tamara Cohen, Mordechai Liebling, and Shawn Zevit will lead and facilitate a morning service space with presence, teaching, music, and prayer.

Leader Bios
Rabbi Tamara Cohen serves as Chief Program Officer at Moving Traditions, working to embolden Jewish youth to thrive through pursuit of shleimut/wholeness, hesed/caring connection and Tzedek/a Jewish and feminist vision of justice. Tamara is a past Covenant Award recipient for excellence, creativity and innovation in Jewish education. She was the Barbara Bick intern at The Shalom Center, knew Arthur for many years, and sits on The Shalom Center’s Advisory Council
Rabbi Mordechai Liebling is the Vice-Chair of Faith in Action, the largest faith-based grassroots network in the U.S., and on the Board of the Faith and Politics Institute, which carries on the legacy of Congressman John Lewis. He created and directed the Social Justice Organizing Program at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. He has fifty plus years of organizing experience. He has led workshops on antisemitism, racism, and Christian hegemony. He is a past president of The Shalom Center and current Board member.
Rabbi Shawn Zevit is a dynamic and widely known liturgist, teacher, singer, author, and consultant to Jewish communities. He is a 1998 graduate of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and worked for the Jewish Reconstructionist Federation for 14 years as the director of congregational services, outreach, and tikkun olam. In 2023, Rabbi Shawn celebrated 25 years as a rabbi and 10 years at Mishkan Shalom. Rabbi Shawn has been a sought-after teacher and leader of spiritual practice programs, including co-director of the award-winning Davennen Leader’s Training Institute, where he coaches rabbis, cantors and lay leaders of all denominations. He is also a spiritual director for the ALEPH Hashpa’ah program.
Rabbi Shawn is the 2026 recipient of the Rabbinic Human Rights Hero Award from T'ruah: the Rabbinic Call for Human Rights, "for his embodiment of the Torah of justice as a rabbi, artist, community organizer, and trainer about the integration of activism and spiritual practice."
