The Shalom Center is proud to support Third Act’s National Day of Action on March 21, 2023

We know that big banks play a crucial role in upholding the fossil fuel industry through massive funding. We also know that our future depends on switching from fossil fuels to renewable energy and that our task as Jews is to honor the sacredness of Earth. That is why we helped organize Exodus Alliance against the “Corporate Carbon Pharoahs” last Passover, with Third Act as a co-sponsor, and have been promoting their Banking on Our Future pledge for over a year.

With Purim behind us and Passover on the horizon, now is the time to again take action to stop dirty banks’ funding of fossil fuels.

Over the past year, thousands of people have pledged to close their accounts, cut up their credit cards, and boycott Bank of America, Chase, Citibank, and Wells Fargo if they don’t move their investments out of fossil fuels. On 3.21.23, The Shalom Center will join with Third Act, as one of more than 50 co-sponsors, to demand change and show the strength of our movement!

You don’t need to be a cardholder or a Third Actor to participate––people of all ages, races, and means are needed to make visible the connection between cash and carbon. Bring your friends, energy, and creativity!

Less than two days after the National Day of Action, Jews all over the world will welcome in new beginnings with the start of the month of Nissan. May this National Day of Action and this Nissan bring renewed inspiration to you, so that your Passover is filled with the kind of liberatory hope that comes from aligning action and purpose.
